Nominated Charity
The DMA North is pleased to be supporting LDCS - Leeds Deaf Children's Society - as our nominated charity for 2009. LDCS is an affiliated Group of the National Deaf Children's Society (NDCS) and the registered charity number is 1016532. We aim to raise funds and awareness and to encourage member companies to consider the charity for their own CSR programmes.
DMA North has chosen to support LDCS Leeds Deaf Children's Society as it's charity partner at the 2009 North Ball. The Charity is a affiliated group of the National Deaf Childrens Society whose aim is to create a world without barriers for deaf children. LDCS want to help Deaf Children by providing fun activities and support for adults, parents, carers and children throughout the year. Adults and children have an opportunity to say what activities they want and when they want them. The over arching aim of the group is to provide an arena for deaf or hearing impaired children to feel fully inclusive within a safe environment, where they can act independently as well as be influenced by positive role models. As well as the cheese and wine evening LDCS arranged a special 'signed' Pantomime Performance at Peter Pan for 300 at West Yorkshire Place House - along with pre -performance face painting, massage, arts and crafts and food. After this they arranged an Ice Skating morning at The Ice Cube in Millenium square, which saw both existing and new members and their siblings attend. LDCS are not complacent and have held Youth Forums in Local Schools such as Allerton Grange to make sure we continue to provide as many activities as we can that cover the needs of 0-25 year olds. |
